CHICKEN ROADTRIP

Farmed animals are traded around the world alive for meat production. The growing distance between production location and processing location is caused by several reasons such as low prices of workforce, hygiene rules or power of transnational companies as we know from sources like the Meat Atlas. While the results of this intense production and trading are complex, we offer a tool to focus on the actual distances, that Animals travel alive and focus on Chicken, since these are the ones that travel most.

We used data from FAOSTAT. All data shown refer to the year 2011.
